Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Finance Administrator to join a law firm in Hoylake, Wirral. Offering a salary of £25,000 to £28,000 depending on experience, this permanent job provides structured on-the-job training and mentoring from the Head of Finance, 25 days' holiday and hybrid working after the initial training period, with three days in the office each week. Part time candidates will also be considered. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone keen to build a career in legal finance while gaining practical experience across legal cashiering, reconciliations and accounts administration. Role Responsibilities The Legal Finance Administrator will support the day-to-day running of the firm's client and office accounts, working closely with the Head of Finance in a regulated legal environment. Key responsibilities will include: Posting client account receipts and payments accurately and promptly in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules. Processing outgoing client account payments, including telegraphic transfers, CHAPS and BACS, in line with the firm's authorisation procedures. Assisting with client-to-office transfers and ensuring the correct authorisation is obtained before posting. Monitoring client account balances and flagging residual balances or unallocated funds to the Head of Finance. Supporting regular bank reconciliations for client and office accounts. Posting purchase invoices and expense claims to the correct cost centres in Xero. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date cashiering records across LawLink and Xero. Assisting with audit and compliance queries relating to client and office account transactions. Responding to internal queries from fee earners and consultants regarding account balances and payment status. Maintaining organised, auditable financial documents and transaction records. Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks as the accounts function develops. Person Specification This Legal Finance Administrator job would suit someone with a genuine interest in developing a career in legal finance or accountancy, including applicants looking for an entry-level opportunity. You should also be able to demonstrate the following: Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy. Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. A proactive and willing approach, with the ability to take direction well. Competence with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills. Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive client and financial information. Previous experience in legal cashiering, accounts or finance administration would be desirable but is not essential. Familiarity with Xero or another cloud-based accounting package would be advantageous. A basic understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules, or a willingness to learn them, would be beneficial. AAT Level 2 or 3, either completed or being studied towards, would be advantageous but is not essential.
