Department Background: The Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Department acts on behalf of individuals who have suffered injury, illness, or loss as a result of accidents, medical negligence, and other incidents where compensation may be recoverable. The department is recognised for its client-focused approach, providing compassionate support while pursuing the best possible outcomes for clients throughout the claims process. The team handles a broad range of complex and sensitive matters, including medical negligence claims, surgical errors, delayed or incorrect diagnoses, birth injury claims, road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, public liability claims, serious injury cases, and fatal accident claims. Working closely with clients, medical experts, and other professionals, the department is committed to delivering outstanding legal representation and achieving successful results. Duties and responsibilities Report directly to the Department Director. Assist with a varied caseload of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence matters. Attend clients, take instructions, and assist with case preparation. Draft correspondence, witness statements, and other legal documents. Prepare and organise evidence and supporting documentation. Liaise with clients, experts, counsel, insurers, and third parties. Attend conferences and court where required. Maintain accurate time recording and file management procedures. Ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory requirements. Deliver excellent client care with a professional and empathetic approach. Experience and qualifications A strong academic background, including a Law degree or equivalent. Previous experience in Personal Injury and/or Clinical Negligence would be beneficial, along with an interest in these areas of law. Understanding of CPR, litigation procedures, and relevant pre-action protocols. Excellent client care, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and analytical abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
