Tree Officer – West Midlands
Hybrid | 22.5 Hours per Week | 6-Month Contract
£30–£45 per hour (DOE)
Estimated take-home pay: £2,000–£2,900 per month
We're recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the West Midlands for an experienced Tree Officer to join their Planning Team on a 6-month contract with an ASAP start.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can confidently manage their own caseload and work independently from day one.
The Role
You'll be responsible for managing a varied caseload of Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applications and Section 211 notifications for works to trees within Conservation Areas. Duties will include:
Assessing TPO and Conservation Area tree work applications.
Undertaking site inspections to assess tree condition, amenity value and the impact of proposed works.
Preparing reports and making recommendations in line with legislation and best practice.
Identifying where new Tree Preservation Orders may be required.
Providing arboricultural advice to planning officers, applicants, agents, councillors and parish councils.
Ensuring applications are processed within statutory timescales.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience handling TPO and Section 211 applications.
Local authority or planning experience is highly desirable.
Strong report-writing skills and the ability to manage a caseload independently.
Working Arrangements
Predominantly remote working.
Office attendance required weekly or fortnightly for site visits and meetings.
