Handyman

Location: Taunton, Somerset Job Type: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP We are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive Handyman to join a well-established hospice in Taunton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong maintenance background who takes pride in providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Working as part of the facilities team, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks across the site, ensuring the hospice remains in excellent condition. The role is customer-facing, so a professional and friendly approach is essential. Duties Will Include: Carrying out general maintenance and repair work across the hospice. Basic painting, decorating, and building repairs. Minor plumbing, carpentry, and maintenance tasks. Conducting routine inspections of the building and reporting defects. Ensuring all work areas are safe, tidy, and compliant with health and safety standards. Liaising with staff, patients, and visitors in a professional and respectful manner. Escalating and reporting larger maintenance issues to managers and specialist contractors where required. Requirements: Previous experience working as a Handyman, Maintenance Operative, or similar role. Good all-round maintenance and repair skills. Strong understanding of health and safety procedures. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively. A valid Enhanced DBS check is required, or willingness to obtain one.
