The Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) is a leading centre for research and training, focused on the discovery, development and delivery of better medicines. We deliver a wide range of accredited undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes to over 1800 students and undertake world-class research with real world impact. The Institute seeks to appoint a workshop technician who can provide a support service to our research and teaching laboratories. Candidates will have the knowledge, skills and experience normally associated with learning gained through previous relevant work experience, perhaps up to 3 years. Alternatively, the route to this level is through completion of a modern apprenticeship which is equivalent to an HNC level qualification and incorporates practical work experience. Responsibilities will include the maintenance, basic repair, and testing of scientific equipment. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of health and safety practices, experience in applying safe working procedures, including manual handling, and be confident using a range of IT systems. A proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment are essential. Applicants may use tools such as AI to support their application; however, all submissions must accurately reflect their own experience and understanding. The University reserves the right to verify the authenticity of application materials and may reject applications where concerns arise.

Initial interviews have been scheduled for the week commencing 28th September 2026.
