Job Description

This is a key frontline role based mainly at our London Road site (London Road, Mitcham Junction, CR4 4HS) but cover may occasionally be required at the Hackbridge Corner site(SM6 7AX). The sites are approximately a 7 minute walk away from each other. You will be the friendly, professional face of the school and the person who ensures the office runs efficiently each day. Typical responsibilities include: Managing reception: welcoming visitors, answering main phone lines, handling enquiries and maintaining a professional first impression. Safeguarding responsibilities linked to visitor ID checks, sign-in/out and confidentiality. First aid and welfare support as Assistant Lead First Aider, administering medication and supporting pupils with individual healthcare plans (training provided). Maintaining and updating pupil and administrative records using systems such as SIMS.net, ParentPay, FMS6, Inventry and Google applications. Managing diary bookings, room set-up, deliveries, lost property, post and sundry sales. Supporting communication with parents and staff: producing letters, newsletters and managing e-mail and print distribution. Co-ordinating photographer visits, school dinners liaison, stock control and basic financial tasks including cash reconciliation. Covering and supporting the wider admin team and providing support to senior staff when required. Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm Monday-Thursday; 8:00am-3:45pm Friday (36 hours per week, term time plus 2 weeks). About you — the ideal candidate We are looking for someone who will thrive in a busy, diverse primary school environment and who will embody our values. You will: Be warm, welcoming and highly professional — confident dealing with visitors, parents and colleagues. Have excellent administrative and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail. Be experienced (or confident) using school/office systems such as SIMS, ParentPay, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (training provided for school specific systems). Be calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities with tact and diplomacy. Have good numeracy skills and experience handling cash and basic reconciliation. Hold, or be willing to achieve, First Aid and Epipen training and attend safeguarding training as required. Be committed to maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding every pupil.
