What will you be doing? As our Kitchen Lead, you will: Lead the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen and meal service. Support and manage the kitchen team, making sure everyone knows what needs to be done. Prepare the kitchen and dining areas for lunchtime service. Ensure meals are stored, heated and served safely and hygienically. Monitor food temperatures, refrigeration and heating equipment. Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen, equipment and dining areas. Manage menus and maintain accurate allergy information. Order food, equipment and supplies and oversee deliveries. Ensure food and other supplies are stored safely and appropriately. Complete the necessary food safety, COSHH, health and safety and compliance records. Work positively with children and school staff to create a welcoming lunchtime environment. Report any safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures. What are we looking for? You don’t need to have worked in a school before, but you will need experience of catering, food preparation or food service and a genuine interest in working around children. We’re looking for someone who is: ✔ Organised and reliable - you’ll be responsible for making sure the kitchen and lunchtime service run smoothly. ✔ A natural team leader - you’ll lead and support colleagues and make sure high standards are maintained. ✔ Safety conscious - you’ll understand the importance of food hygiene, cleanliness, allergies and safe working practices. ✔ Friendly and approachable - you’ll be working with children and colleagues every day. ✔ A good communicator - you’ll need to communicate clearly and confidently with children, staff, suppliers and other visitors. A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification would be great, but if you don’t have one, we will support you to achieve it .
