What you will do

• Undertake statutory duties as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner in accordance with the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), performing both emergency and scheduled assessments.
• Assess the need for compulsory admission to hospital and make applications under the Mental Health Act where necessary.
• Coordinate and lead Mental Health Act assessments alongside medical practitioners, police, ambulance services, and other stakeholders.
• Complete holistic social care assessments, care planning, and risk management for adults with complex mental health needs.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

• Professional qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or Psychology.
• Current Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
• Evidence of relevant post-qualification professional development.

Registration & Compliance:

• Current registration with Social Work England, HCPC, or NMC, as appropriate.

Experience:

• Significant experience in Adult Mental Health, Community Mental Health, or Adult Social Care services.
• Experience undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and executing AMHP duties.
