Commercial & Property Claims Handler Location: Hybrid Salary: Competitive + benefits Job Type: Permanent The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial & Property Claims Handler to join an established and high-quality Claims Management team. This is a pivotal role supporting a key client across multiple bespoke insurance schemes. You will manage a varied caseload of commercial and residential property claims, including high-value and complex losses, from first notification through to settlement. You will be responsible for delivering positive outcomes for customers and clients through effective claims handling, clear communication and sound technical decision-making. Key Responsibilities Manage an allocated caseload of commercial and residential property claims from first notification through to settlement. Handle high-value and complex claims, ensuring accurate assessment, liability evaluation and timely progression. Thoroughly investigate claims by gathering and reviewing evidence, reports and supporting documentation. Assess policy coverage and claims circumstances in line with policy terms and conditions. Negotiate appropriate settlements within delegated authority. Manage external suppliers, including loss adjusters, contractors, surveyors and legal representatives. Proactively progress claims and ensure appropriate actions are completed within agreed timescales. Client & Stakeholder Management Act as a key point of contact for a major client across multiple insurance schemes. Build and maintain strong professional relationships with brokers, policyholders, suppliers and internal teams. Provide regular and clear updates on claim progress, issues and emerging risks. Deliver a professional, customer-focused service throughout the claims journey. Handle queries and challenging situations effectively and professionally. Compliance & Quality Ensure all claims are handled in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal procedures and client service level agreements. Maintain accurate and comprehensive claim file records. Ensure claims management systems are updated promptly and accurately. Identify potential fraudulent activity and escalate concerns appropriately. Identify trends, risks and opportunities for process improvement. Support the wider team by sharing best-practice claims handling knowledge. Contribute to continuous improvement across processes, documentation and service delivery. About You We are looking for an experienced Claims Handler with a strong background in commercial and residential property claims. You will ideally have: Minimum 2 years' proven claims handling experience. Experience handling commercial property and residential property claims. Experience managing high-value and/or complex claims. Cert CII and/or Cert CILA qualification. Strong technical knowledge of policy coverage, claims processes and loss assessment. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills. The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure. Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail. Experience using claims management systems. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. A proactive approach with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
