Rent Arrears Officer

Income Recovery Officer Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office Contract: Temporary Hours: Full Time We are currently recruiting for a Complex Income Recovery Officer to join a busy Rents Team in South-West London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Housing Income Officer, Income Recovery Officer, Rent Recovery Officer or Housing Officer with strong experience managing complex rent arrears and debt recovery cases. The Role You will be responsible for managing a caseload of customers with complex rent arrears and financial circumstances , working proactively to understand the causes of arrears and identify sustainable solutions. Key responsibilities will include: Managing complex rent arrears and income recovery cases, including former tenancy arrears Working with customers to identify barriers to payment and agree appropriate repayment solutions Taking appropriate action to recover outstanding rent and reduce arrears Preparing legal documentation and progressing cases through possession proceedings Representing cases at court and attending possession hearings where required Managing sensitive and challenging customer situations professionally and effectively Working closely with solicitors and other internal and external stakeholders Providing advice and support around welfare benefits and customers' ability to pay Supporting tenancy sustainment and seeking positive outcomes for customers wherever possible Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring recovery action is progressed in line with relevant policies and procedures About You We are looking for someone with previous experience in social housing income recovery, rent arrears or debt recovery . You will have: Experience managing complex rent arrears cases Knowledge of housing income recovery and possession procedures Experience preparing legal documentation and attending court proceedings (Essential) A good understanding of welfare benefits Experience dealing with vulnerable customers and sensitive situations Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills The ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively with a range of stakeholders A customer-focused but proactive approach to income recovery If you have experience as an Income Recovery Officer, Housing Income Officer, Rent Recovery Officer, Housing Officer or similar , and are looking for your next opportunity, we would be keen to hear from you.
