Role Purpose The Freedom Project Co-ordinator plays a key role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion to move towards greater independence, stability, and personal progression. Working directly with Freedom trainees, volunteers, and Mustard Tree clients, you will provide person-centred support through one-to-one casework, group activities, crisis intervention, and progression planning. You will help individuals identify and achieve their goals, overcome barriers, and access opportunities in employment, training, education, housing, and wider support services. This role is central to delivering a welcoming, trauma-informed, and strengths-based service that reflects Mustard Tree’s values. Through building positive relationships, maintaining professional standards, and working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, you will contribute to meaningful and sustainable outcomes for the people we support. Key Competencies World Class Welcome and Customer Service · Deliver a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental welcome to all visitors, service users, volunteers, and Freedom trainees. · Provide advice, guidance, and emergency support to individuals accessing Mustard Tree services, including those sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness. · Manage referral appointments sensitively and professionally, ensuring people are treated with dignity throughout the process. · Provide a minimum of one day per week supporting reception-based and drop-in activity for people presenting with immediate needs. · Maintain high standards of communication across face-to-face, telephone, and digital contact. · Manage conflict calmly and professionally, helping individuals feel safe, respected, and listened to. Proactive in Living and Sharing our Culture, Values and Behaviours · Build positive, trusting relationships with Freedom trainees and support them to identify and work towards goals. · Promote independence, resilience, and self-confidence through person-centred support planning. · Support the delivery and development of Freedom Project Open Days and inductions, ensuring trainees feel welcomed and informed. · Act as a positive ambassador for Mustard Tree, modelling the organisation’s values and behaviours at all times. · Encourage participation, engagement, and progression throughout the Freedom programme. Courage in Problem Solving and Embracing Change to Meet Needs · Coordinate referrals and liaise with internal teams and external agencies to create clear pathways into the Freedom Project. · Establish opportunities and routes into employment, education, training, volunteering, and other progression activities. · Support trainees to overcome barriers by identifying practical solutions and accessing appropriate services. · Adapt support plans and interventions based on changing circumstances and individual needs. · Use initiative to identify areas for service improvement and contribute ideas to enhance outcomes. Confident in Safeguarding and Incident Management · Conduct risk assessments and maintain accurate client records and documentation. · Identify, record, and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with Mustard Tree policies and procedures. · Contribute to risk management through effective use of incident reporting systems and safeguarding processes. · Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in all interactions. · Support individuals experiencing crisis or distress in a safe, calm, and professional manner. Skilled in Analysing Impact and Reporting · Manage an active caseload, scheduling and delivering up to 20 one-to-one support sessions each week. · Deliver a mixture of face-to-face and telephone support sessions based on client need. Change to ‘catch-up via phone call when people don’t attend’ · Complete outcome measures, support plans, case notes, and reports accurately and within agreed timescales. · Produce case studies and impact evidence to demonstrate progression and programme outcomes. · Monitor client journeys, progression plans, and successful move-on outcomes. · Carry out administrative duties associated with the role and maintain accurate records on internal systems. Positive Management of Stakeholders, Partners and Supporters · Develop and maintain effective relationships with employers, Job Centres, training providers, housing services, charities, and statutory agencies. · Coordinate training and educational opportunities for Freedom trainees across Mustard Tree services. · Signpost and refer individuals to relevant specialist services, ensuring clear pathways of support. · Act as a point of contact for colleagues seeking advice regarding Freedom trainees and help resolve issues where appropriate. · Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure coordinated and effective support delivery.
