About the Role As a Bank Staff SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support across a range of specialist school settings, helping to cover both planned and unplanned staff absences. Depending on the school and pupils you are supporting, your responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups Assisting pupils with a range of SEND needs Supporting children with their learning, communication and development Helping pupils manage their behaviour and emotions Working alongside teachers and other support staff Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills Following individual support plans and school policies Maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding and pupil wellbeing You may be supporting pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, learning difficulties and complex SEND. What We’re Looking For We welcome applications from candidates who: Have previous experience working with children or young people Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, either professionally or personally Have worked in a school, nursery, care, youth work or similar setting Are confident managing challenging behaviour Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Are reliable, adaptable and able to work at short notice Have a genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential Understand the importance of safeguarding Why Work with Engage Education?
