Tourism and Hospitality Tutor

This is an exciting job opportunity where you’ll join the Hospitality & Tourism Team in, in Business, Economics and Social Sciences Pathway. You will be teaching both medium classes and small seminars of international students studying on our Level 4 International Year 1. You will be expected to deliver teaching sessions on campus for the Academic Year 2026-2027. You will also be required to interact with students via our VLE and therefore will need to be confident using technology. ABOUT THE ROLE In this job, you will develop the Schemes of Work and the teaching material for our Hospitality and Tourism provision, teaching groups of international students across our Level 4 programme. Our class sizes are on average between 18-20 students, and you will be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the learning experience. You will undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you will have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning. There will be up to 20 live teaching hours and up to 5 hours of asynchronous interaction and VLE development. You will be required to make sure all the administrative tasks associated with tutors are completed on time and meet the highest standards. Ensure to implement the modules to the academic calendar and in module deadlines and requirements to ensure the best possible student outcomes and student experience. Produce a set of agreed documentation for each course and module including course outlines, module handbooks, schemes of work and teaching material. Review documentation regularly for accuracy and appropriateness. Ensure that all assessment for agreed modules in subject area are prepared in a timely fashion to agreed deadlines and are appropriate, fair, and secure. Support the Head of Subject to ensure all students on agreed modules receive effective assessment feedback. Support Head of Subject in liaising with External Examiners for subject area, providing information to External Examiner as required and responding to recommendations. Act as an Academic Mentor for one or more groups of students. Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance, engagement and performance. Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings. Participate in regular training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities. ABOUT YOU You will have experience of or a commitment to working with international students and have: A Bachelor's degree in relevant subject(Essential). A Master’s qualification (Desirable). Teaching qualification (Desirable) Fluent spoken and written English. Experience of teaching in Hospitality and Tourism in UK higher, or further education (Essential) Assessment marking experience at a minimum of level 4 (Essential) Experience of working with international students (Desirable) Up to £34 per hour
