Caretaker/Handyman

Join Wellesley Hospital in Wellington as a Caretaker/Handyman where you will be part of creating a well- presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Caretaker/Handyman, you will be responsible for ensuring the services facilities are fit for purpose, gardening and will regularly conduct audits to identify and repair any faults ensuring a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.

Working alongside an established team, you will turn your hand to all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.

As a Caretaker/Handyman you will be:

• Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose.
• Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained.
• Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.
• Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
• Assisting in all decorating.
• Liaising with a manager reporting all faults and defects.
• Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance.
• Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks.

To be successful in this role, you will:

• To comply with system and procedures.
• Have previous experience within a maintenance role.
• To work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service.
• Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

You will be working at Wellesley Hospital, a purpose built 101 bed hospital in Wellington (Somerset) for men and women with mental health needs.

There are 6 wards for people with mental health needs and 1 ward for people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The Wellesley Hospital built in 2017 works alongside Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Avon and Wiltshire Foundation Trust, Cornwall Foundation Trust, 2gether Foundation Trust,  and Livewell to deliver the best possible environment for patients with mental health issues.
