The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is looking for a Modern Apprentice to join our friendly and supportive communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital content production, marketing, and internal and external communications within a dynamic organisation at the forefront of advanced manufacturing and innovation. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you’ll support a wide range of activities—from creating and sharing content on social media, organising our digital media library, and maintaining event calendars, to helping develop newsletters, updating website content, and providing on-the-day support for key events. You’ll also assist with research, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and general team administration, following established processes and receiving ongoing guidance and training throughout. If you’re conscientious, eager to learn, and excited about building real skills in a fast-paced communications environment, this apprenticeship offers the perfect first step. You’ll gain valuable experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and be supported every step of the way as you develop into a confident communications professional. To be considered for the role, you will have a minimum of 4 Nat 5’s at A, B and C (or equivalent) which must include English, Mathematics and an Administration, Business, Communication, Media related subject. The Modern Apprenticeship programme is co-ordinated within the University and gives the successful candidate an opportunity to “earn and learn” as they will achieve a SQA qualification under the modern apprentice administration framework during the 2-year programme. Please note that as a result of funding rules, Modern Apprentices must embark on the scheme before their 20th birthday.
