Location: Chandler's Ford (moving to Romsey in the future) Temporary to Permanent | Immediate Start Available Salary: Dependent on experience Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (overtime/weekend work may occasionally be required) About the Role Dynamite Recruitment is supporting a well-established engineering business based in the Southampton area who are looking for a hands-on Test Engineer / Workshop Technician to join their growing team. This is a practical, workshop-based role combining equipment testing, electrical checks, light engineering modifications, and warehouse operations . You will play a key role in ensuring specialist equipment is assembled, tested, prepared, and ready for customer use. The role would suit someone with experience in an engineering, manufacturing, electrical, workshop, or technical environment who enjoys a varied, hands-on position. Key Responsibilities Equipment Testing & Electrical Checks Carry out testing of specialist equipment to company standards Complete electrical checks and testing on equipment containing 24VAC, 230V and 400V control panels Identify and report faults or issues during testing Record test results accurately and maintain quality standards Ensure equipment is fully prepared and ready for dispatch Workshop & Engineering Support Carry out minor equipment modifications and adjustments Support installation of components including pumps and bypass systems Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely Assist with fault finding and resolving technical issues Maintain high standards of quality and safety Warehouse Operations Safely load and unload delivery vehicles Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck Receive, inspect and store incoming equipment Pick and prepare equipment for customer orders Package equipment securely for transportation Maintain an organised workshop and warehouse environment Customer & Team Support Support customer Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Assist with customer demonstrations and training where required Provide occasional support to the service team What We're Looking For Essential: Experience working with 24VAC, 230V or 400V control panels Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, electrical, workshop, or technical environment Experience working with electrical equipment, control panels, or industrial machinery Comfortable carrying out testing and following technical procedures Good practical problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Desirable: Experience with electrical testing, wiring, commissioning, or fault finding Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck License Mechanical assembly or modification experience Previous experience in a workshop or production environment Additional Information Occasional local travel may be required Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on business needs If you have a practical engineering mindset and enjoy working with both electrical and mechanical equipment, this could be a great opportunity to join a growing technical team.
