Health & Safety Coordinator

Location: Remote (with occasional UK travel, typically around 1 day per month) Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week Contract: Temporary, 4 months (with potential to become permanent) Pay: £19.23 per hour (+ holiday pay) Start Date: ASAP (candidates with up to 2 weeks' notice will be considered) We are delighted to be supporting a national charity in the search for a temporary Health & Safety Coordinator to join their team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Health & Safety professional to take ownership of health and safety across a national organisation, ensuring effective systems, policies and practices are embedded throughout the charity. Working remotely and collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance, promoting best practice and fostering a positive safety culture. Responsibilities Coordinate and maintain the organisation's health and safety management framework. Develop, review and implement health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments. Provide practical advice and guidance to managers, staff and volunteers on health and safety matters. Ensure compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation and best practice. Monitor compliance through audits, inspections and review of controls. Support the reporting, investigation and follow-up of accidents, incidents and near misses. Coordinate health and safety training and awareness activities across the organisation. Liaise with external stakeholders including insurers, regulators and specialist consultants where required. Maintain accurate records and produce reports to support governance and compliance requirements. Work with colleagues at all levels to promote a positive and practical health and safety culture. Requirements NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (essential). Proven experience in a Health & Safety role. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice. Experience developing risk assessments, policies and safety procedures. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong record-keeping and reporting capabilities. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and influence positive change. Experience within the charity, public sector or not-for-profit environment would be highly desirable. A proactive, practical and collaborative approach to managing organisational health and safety.
