As a Ranger, you’ll contribute to improving habitats and access to the countryside and coast of Pen Llŷn. Working in some of the country’s most stunning landscapes, your passion for the outdoors will help inspire others while supporting thriving ecosystems and well-presented sites.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

What it’s like to work here

You’ll be part of the Pen Llŷn National Trust Ranger team, delivering practical conservation and maintenance work across the estate. Tasks include fencing, repairing cloddiau and dry-stone walls, tree planting, and managing invasive species. Although based in Cwrt (Aberdaron), you’ll work across sites including Porthdinllaen, Ynys Môn, Glan Faenol and Pen Llŷn.

Working closely with farm tenants, volunteers and the local community, many of whom are Welsh-speaking, you’ll need to communicate confidently in Welsh. This is a hands-on outdoor role, requiring resilience, adaptability and the ability to work in all weather conditions throughout the year.

What you’ll be doing

Following the direction of the Countryside Manager, you’ll help deliver a flexible programme of conservation and access work, taking responsibility for small and medium-sized projects. You’ll support ranger teams across Ynys Môn and Pen Llŷn and occasionally assist colleagues elsewhere in North Wales.

You’ll also play an important role in managing Porthdinllaen harbour, including year-round fishermen’s moorings and seasonal visitor moorings.

Maintaining excellent standards of presentation and property maintenance, you’ll help achieve conservation objectives while building effective relationships with contractors, tenants, neighbouring land managers, colleagues and external partners.

You’ll also communicate conservation work to a variety of audiences through events, guided walks and community engagement activities.

Who we’re looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Hold a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in countryside or environmental conservation, or have equivalent experience.
• Have practical experience in countryside, rural or forestry skills.
• Have strong wildlife identification skills.
• Understand health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and method statements.
• Have excellent communication skills, including delivering presentations.
• Have experience or understanding of working with volunteers.
• Can manage contractors, budgets and small projects.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
