Job Description
The purpose of this apprenticeship is to provide practical, hands-on experience in professional canine care, ethical breeding and puppy development while completing a nationally recognised Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Assistant Apprenticeship.Working alongside the Founder and wider GVP team, you will develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to work within a professional breeding environment while helping maintain the exceptionally high standards of welfare and care for which The GVP Club is known.No previous professional dog experience is required. Full training, mentoring and support will be provided throughout your apprenticeship.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :Daily Canine CareFeed adult dogs and puppies according to individual feeding plansEnsure fresh drinking water is always availableObserve and report any changes in health or behaviour Assist with grooming and general husbandryMaintain exceptional standards of canine welfare at all timesPuppy DevelopmentSUPPORT THE GVP COMPANION SYSTEM WITH :Early puppy socialisationEnvironmental exposureConfidence buildingBasic training foundationsHandling and grooming exercisesCrate trainingToilet training routinesPreparing puppies for their forever homesExercise , enrichment and trainingWORKING PATTERN :This apprenticeship is offered on a flexible rota basis to meet the operational needs of The GVP ClubMinimum contracted hours of 16 hours per week and up to 45 in busy periodsWorking days (5 days out of a 7 day week subject to hours) and hours will be agreed and issued at least one month in advance thisFlexibility and reliability are essential, as the welfare of our dogs and puppies is our priority every day
