Job Description

Sophie Hulme Eventing is located in Gloucestershire on a wonderful yard, seeking an enthusiastic and passionate equine apprentice. The apprentice will work 5 days out of 7, with discussions on shift patterns held with the successful candidate, including at least 1 weekend day. The role involves working 40 hours a week, with a wage starting at £16,640 for the first year, which could increase based on age. Sophie Hulme, an event rider with a masters in equine science, offers opportunities tailored to the apprentice's interests, whether in riding, breeding, or yard management. Usual yard duties include lunging, grooming, mucking out, turning out, and tacking up, with potential riding for the right candidate. Ideal candidates should be friendly, motivated, and passionate about learning, with confidence in handling horses and readiness to work in all weather conditions. The position offers an excellent small team environment for job completion and socializing. Candidates who own a horse may have options for livery and coaching from Sophie. The ideal candidates should have a GCSE in English and Maths (grade 4) and possess skills such as communication, attention to detail, organization, teamwork, initiative, patience, and physical fitness. This position is suitable for individuals with some experience with horses, ideally competition fit horses. Self-contained accommodation is available, along with livery for the apprentice’s horse from September 26. After the apprenticeship, support and guidance for future equine career aspirations are provided, along with opportunities for further responsibilities and additional apprenticeships for the right candidate.
