Job Description
A motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Groom is sought to join our friendly family-run private Show jumping competition yard. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals aiming to build a career in the equestrian industry while completing a full apprenticeship through Haddon Training. The role involves daily yard duties including mucking out, feeding, and turnout, grooming and tacking up, maintaining high standards of horse care and yard presentation, helping run Training Shows, and assisting with the care of our private competition horses. As skills develop, opportunities arise to progress to lunging, working and exercising horses, and riding (depending on experience). Support for Functional Skills in maths and English at Level 2 is provided if required. All apprenticeship training is conducted on-site with the employer and Haddon Training. This position offers a supportive environment with excellent opportunities to learn and progress, alongside the chance to work with quality private competition horses, and participate in show opportunities for the right person. Working days will be discussed, with weekend work expected. There are additional paid hours available on the livery side of the yard for those looking to gain more experience. Candidates must be hardworking, reliable, keen to learn, and passionate about horses, with existing skills in the horse industry as these are competition horses. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions is essential. Accommodation options and the ability to bring your own horse with training are also available.
