JR102839 Campus Safety, Security and Site Services Officer (x 2 positions) Salary: Band 2 UO11 – UO12 £24,215 per annum, plus potential ‘alternating shift’ and ‘first aider’ allowances. Working Hours: Shift pattern normally alternating shifts of; ‘earlies shift’ (07:00 - 15:00) ‘lates shift’ (13:30 - 21:30) rotated on a weekly basis. Full-time (36.5 hours per week), Continuing. Closing Date: (00:01am) 9 August 2026 We are seeking diligent, customer-focused, and motivated Officers to join our Campus Safety, Security and Site Services (CSSaSS) team. The roles are full-time, working 36.5 hours per week, during all the weekdays throughout the year including bank holidays. The CSSaSS Officers play a vital role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Specific Duties and Responsibilities (please see attached job description for full details): Ensuring compliance with safety policies, conducting checks to ensure adherence to university health and safety policies, and ensuring that a safe, clean working environment is maintained for the university’s students, staff and visitors. Support university operations by moving furniture, setting up rooms for events, assisting with deliveries, and ensuring campus facilities are functional. Mail and Parcel Handling – Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages. Conducting and overseeing regular foot patrols. Responding swiftly to security incidents, fire events, and other emergencies including first aid and mental health first aid responses. Completing moving of furniture, setting up rooms, and supporting campus logistics. This work involves the driving of cars and vans. Use of surveillance systems (e.g. CCTV), completing formal logging of actions/incidents using computer-based systems, generating computer reports and other data, and assisting with reviews. Assist in managing traffic flow and enforcing parking regulations, ensuring policies are applied consistently. Issue Notice of Parking Charges (NOPCs) where users have not complied with the University traffic and parking regulations. Person Specification Previous customer service, safety, security, portering, parking management/enforcement or cleaning experience is desirable, though not essential, as training will be provided. Must hold a full valid car driving licence. This is essential. Previous experience of providing first aid and mental health first aid is desirable though not essential, as training will be provided. Able to remain calm and reassure those in distress, provide assistance, recognising the limits of own ability and responsibility, and signpost/refer to others where appropriate. Previous experience of cleaning internal and external locations is desirable though not essential, as training will be provided.
