Job Description
Host / Hostess Angelina – Shoreditch, London Osteria Angelina is looking for a warm, organised Host or Hostess to create the first impression for our guests in Shoreditch. If you love hospitality, thrive on a busy floor, and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, we'd love to hear from you. Who we are Osteria Angelina is a family-owned restaurant and sister site to Angelina Dalston. An osteria is a casual restaurant rooted in the Italian tradition of generous hospitality and simple, beautiful food — and we celebrate Itameshi, Italian food with Japanese ingredients and influences. Our à la carte menu changes with the seasons and the day's best ingredients, our kitchen and pasta lab are open for guests to see, and our service is relaxed. We honour craft, not convention: there's no right way to order, no dress code, and guests are welcome to use their hands. We want our team to feel just as at home as our guests do. About the role As Host or Hostess, you'll be the first face our guests see and the person who sets the tone for their whole visit. Working closely with our Reservations Manager and the rest of the host team, you'll manage reservations, walk-ins and seating to keep guest flow smooth — even when the restaurant is at its busiest. It's a fast-paced role that suits someone who stays warm, organised and clear-headed under pressure. What you'll be doing • Greeting guests warmly on arrival and setting a hospitable, inviting tone from the door • Managing reservations, walk-ins and seating alongside the Reservations Manager and host team, especially during busy periods • Escorting guests to their tables, presenting menus and introducing them to their server • Communicating wait times clearly and keeping guests updated, staying calm when things get busy • Working closely with front-of-house and kitchen teams to keep service moving smoothly • Keeping the entrance, waiting area and host stand clean, organised and well-presented • Handling guest questions, requests and any concerns with patience and professionalism What we're looking for • A warm, welcoming manner and genuine enjoyment of working with people • Experience in a busy, fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting • A team player who works well with the Reservations Manager and wider host team • Strong organisational skills and a calm head under pressure • Excellent communication skills and real attention to detail The details Salary: £16.50 – £17.50 per hour, depending on experience Location: Shoreditch, London Hours: Part-time, 20–30 hours per week, flexible across Monday to Sunday If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
