Vacancy InformationThe salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £15.16 - £16.30 Temporary until 31st March 2027.Days and Hours of Work:Monday - Friday, working during school hours, to be confirmed further.To start asap. East Lothian Council seek to appoint a positive, resilient and inclusive individual for the position of School Welfare Assistant, at Rosehill High School, on the Wallyford Learning Campus. Our school has rapidly expanded since opening in 2023 and, for session 26-27, we expect around 700 pupils in S1-S6. This role has a specific focus on attendance tracking and meeting pupils' day to day. The candidate will be expected to be in regular phone and/or email communication with families. Whilst first aid training is a requirement, this could be supported whilst in post and is not required prior to application. This secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to learning, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) wing, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state of the art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can: Communicate clearly and kindly with young people to help reduce any barriers to presence, participation and achievement in school Work as part of the team around children with ASN, building and maintaining strong relationships in the wider school community Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to play a full part in safeguarding and nurturing young people, offering the right balance of challenge and support Use their initiative and work responsively to meet the needs of the young people in their care Commit to viewing themselves as a lifelong learning, seeking out and taking up opportunities to continually improve their practice The successful candidate will be at the forefront of a growing school community and have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives.
