Job Description
We are looking for an Estate Gardener to join our dedicated team at Ewhurst Park, a unique rural estate in Hampshire with a strong focus on biodiversity and sustainability.
The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the highest standards of presentation are maintained across the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day maintenance of estate gardens, borders, lawns, orchards, glasshouses and planted areas, including weeding, pruning, planting, watering, mulching and general upkeep.
- Assist with the maintenance of seasonal planting displays, ornamental borders and specialist garden areas.
- Propagate, cultivate and care for a wide range of ornamental, edible and native plant species.
- Support the maintenance of the Potting Shed, Orangery and other facilities.
- Assist with seasonal planting programmes, soil preparation and garden improvement projects.
- Help maintain the presentation of all guest-facing horticultural spaces to an exceptional standard.
- Monitor plant health and assist with the organic management of pests and diseases.
- Operate and maintain horticultural tools, machinery, irrigation systems and equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with harvesting, handling and storage of estate-grown produce where required.
- Support estate events through the preparation and presentation of gardens and outdoor spaces.
- Work collaboratively with the wider estate team to support biodiversity, sustainability and conservation objectives.
- Support hospitality, events and visitor experiences through the provision and presentation of estate-grown flowers, plants and produce.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture or grounds maintenance.
- A genuine passion for plants, gardens and the natural environment.
- Good practical horticultural knowledge and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to undertake manual tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Positive, flexible and proactive approach to work.
Desirable Skills
- Horticultural qualifications (RHS Level 2 or equivalent).
- Experience working on a private estate, public garden, horticultural attraction or similar environment.
- Experience of organic gardening practices and sustainable horticulture.
- Knowledge of soil health, composting and biodiversity-friendly gardening techniques.
- Experience operating horticultural machinery and irrigation systems.
- PA1/PA6, chainsaw, brushcutter or other relevant land-based qualifications.
