Job Description
Ewhurst Park is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and personable Foraging & Education Officer to join our growing team. This unique and varied role combines practical estate knowledge, foraging, herbalism, education and visitor engagement within a dynamic rural estate.
The successful candidate will inspire visitors, schools, community groups and estate guests to connect with the landscape, wildlife, food systems and natural heritage of Ewhurst Park. You will deliver engaging educational sessions, guided walks and workshops, promote safe and sustainable foraging practices, and share knowledge of edible and medicinal plants, fungi and traditional countryside skills.
Working closely with the wider estate team, you will also support the planning and delivery of school visits, community engagement programmes and public events, helping to create memorable outdoor learning experiences for people of all ages.
This is a varied role within a busy working estate, requiring flexibility and a willingness to support wider estate operations when required. Alongside educational activities, you will assist with the preparation and delivery of estate events, visitor experiences and occasional lone working across the estate, ensuring the highest standards of safety, professionalism and visitor care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver educational sessions, workshops and guided walks for schools, visitors and community groups.
- Lead foraging experiences, sharing knowledge of edible, medicinal and useful wild plants, fungi and trees.
- Develop engaging educational content focused on biodiversity, conservation and sustainable land management.
- Support school visits, community programmes and public engagement activities.
- Assist with estate events, visitor experiences and operational activities.
- Work alongside the Ranger and wider estate team on practical conservation and habitat management projects.
- Promote Ewhurst Park as an ambassador, delivering exceptional visitor experiences.
- Help identify opportunities to utilise estate-grown and wild-harvested ingredients within hospitality, wellbeing and educational activities.
Essential Skills
- Experience delivering outdoor education, guided walks or visitor experiences.
- Knowledge of foraging, wild food and/or herbalism.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Passion for conservation, biodiversity and the natural environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week), with flexibility required to support educational programmes, estate events and occasional weekend working.
