Job Description
In support of the current 5 year Project Delivery Phase until March 2029.
Led by the South Devon National Landscape Team on behalf of the Life on the Edge Project Partnership, employed through South Hams District Council and supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Have you got a passion for enabling and supporting people to take positive action for nature in their local area? We are on the search for skilled and experienced facilitator to energise community conservation across the Life on the Edge project area; co-creating Pollinator Plans, empowering and upskilling groups and individuals in the shared purpose of making a difference for South Devon pollinators.
Life on the Edge aims to restore species-rich grasslands to secure a positive future for some of the UK’s rarest invertebrates and plants living along the South Devon coast, while improving people’s health, wellbeing and nature-connectedness.
The Pollinator Plan Officer will lead on connecting local communities with the nature on their doorstep through the creation of LotE Pollinator Plans, supported by a small grants scheme. These plans will create a framework to mobilise community conservation within the project area, improving spaces for pollinators as well as people’s health and wellbeing.
This person will work with Parish communities, developing plans that respond to the potential of each unique place. The plans will identify actions for community engagement and set budgets for delivery. The Officer will also identify and engage relevant local stakeholders (such as special interest groups, parish councils, community groups), working with them to create a collaborative plan of action.
This exciting role is an amazing opportunity to work in one of the UK’s finest coastal landscapes – it is highly designated and includes Special Areas of Conservation, National Nature Reserves, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and forms an important part of the South Devon National Landscape, South Devon Heritage Coast and South West Coast Path National Trail.
If you are enthusiastic about partnering with communities to effectively conserve and restore their local wildlife habitats whilst contributing to real landscape scale change in South Devon, this job is for you!
