Assistant Accountant

Working as part of a small, close-knit finance team, you'll enjoy a varied role with genuine responsibility, supporting the production of accurate financial information while contributing to the continued success of the business. The Role Your responsibilities will include: Assisting with monthly project costing Completing inter-company, cashbook and balance sheet reconciliations. Supporting VAT returns, fixed asset accounting and monthly management accounts. Assisting with financial statement preparation and the annual external audit. Testing system upgrades and supporting colleagues with finance system queries. Identifying opportunities to improve processes and contribute to the efficiency of the finance function. About You We're looking for someone who has: Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role. A sound understanding of reconciliations, VAT, month end processes and support with the production of monthly management accounts. Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Good Excel skills and confidence using finance systems. A proactive, team-focused approach with a willingness to learn and develop. Experience within construction, engineering or another project-based environment would be advantageous but is not essential. What's on Offer Competitive salary, dependent on experience. 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Company pension scheme with a 5% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution.
