Your new company A highly specialist and growing tax advisory firm focused exclusively on tax disputes and investigations is seeking to expand its team. Due to increasing demand and a strong pipeline of work, the firm is currently turning away engagements and is keen to appoint an additional consultant to support across a broad range of complex cases. The business operates in a niche space, working closely with legal professionals and barristers on high-profile and technically challenging matters. Your new role You will work as part of a specialist disputes and investigations team, supporting a variety of contentious tax matters. This is a varied role offering exposure to complex, high-stakes work early in your career. Key responsibilities will include: Supporting on HMRC enquiries and investigations, including COP9 and fraud-related cases Undertaking detailed fact-finding and technical research Preparing comprehensive reports and case files for barristers Assisting with tribunal cases and dispute resolution processes Collaborating with legal teams and external stakeholders on case preparation The role offers a high degree of autonomy, with flexible and largely remote working. Travel to London will be required when cases demand. What you'll need to succeed A background in practice tax (typically 2-5 years' experience) Strong analytical and investigative skills Excellent written communication, with the ability to produce clear and detailed reports A proactive and self-motivated approach to work An interest in disputes, investigations, and contentious tax matters Prior investigations experience is not essential, but a genuine interest in this area is key.
