Job AdvertAre you an experienced social service worker looking for a new challenge? Or perhaps you're passionate about people and looking to change careers? An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) on a temporary nightshift basis, delivering vital support to vulnerable individuals in their own homes.
About the Role
As a MECS Nightshift Worker, you will respond to emergency requests for assistance from service users across the Falkirk Council area. This could include:
Responding to emergency calls such as falls or medical needs
Providing personal care and emotional reassurance
Installing or removing emergency equipment
Supporting individuals with dignity and compassion during distressing or uncertain times
This is a lone working role, requiring calm, confident, and quick decision-making in challenging situations.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who:
Are experienced in social services or have a passion for helping people
Understand the impact of ageing and disability on individuals’ lives
Can work under pressure and remain calm, sensitive, and professional
Communicate effectively at all levels – with service users, colleagues, and partner services
Are excellent team players who can also work independently and without supervision
Are flexible, reliable, and resilient
While previous experience delivering personal care is desirable, it’s not essential – full training will be provided.
Training & Qualifications
You will receive comprehensive training, both formal and informal, including:
Moving and Handling
Use of hoists and other care equipment
Personal care procedures
First aid (if required)
Desirable qualifications include:
SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards this)
Extended personal care training
First Aid Certificate
You must either be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or be willing to register within 3 months of starting.
Essential Requirements
A full, clean driving licence
The ability to work nightshift and lone work
A strong commitment to person-centred care and service excellence
Additional Information
This post is temporary until March 2027 to cover a temporary project.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
