Job Description
Our company is Tirwedd Sustainable Land Management, previously trading as Tirwedd Sustainable Garden and Tree Services. We have recently changed the company name to reflect the direction we have moved in. We provide a range of practical land management services including forestry and habitat management, as well as gardening and grounds maintenance. We are an ecologically conscious company.
We’re recruiting for two full time employed positions. These are for operatives who will undertake woodland / forest management operations to ensure sustainable forest management. Tasks include a range of tree planting (including commercial restocking), tree maintenance, mechanical weeding around trees, cleaning and re-spacing of young trees, and other habitat, vegetation and land management work.
Rates of pay will be between £13.00 and £17.00 per hour depending on experience. You will usually work 37.5 hours to 40 hours a week as a minimum. Basic annual salaries will be between £25,350 and £35,360, depending on experience.
Performance and rate of pay will be subject to review, and we hope we will be able to increase salary based on performance. Performance related bonuses are often available. You must be able to deliver consistent outputs and standards.
We’re ideally looking for people with relevant experience and certificates of competency. Those with transferable skills and experience may also be considered. We intend that one of the positions will fulfil a working supervisor role, to undertake monitoring and reporting of how work is progressing on site, as well as being personally productive. This will involve monitoring sub-contractors.
EFAW+F, brushcutter, forestry clearing saw, chainsaw, ATV / quad, and PA6 certificates are all an advantage. However, those with experience in using equipment without current certificates may also be considered and training can be provided subject to a training agreement.
Candidates need the ability to work outdoors in all weathers, physical fitness, determination, commitment, a flexible attitude, self-motivation and reliability. The ability, drive and determination to work to deadlines and targets is essential. Both an ecological and commercial outlook is an advantage.
Both positions require a driving licence and your own transport. You will be required to drive work vehicles when needed. The ability to tow trailers is an advantage; training can be provided.
You will be required to start your workday at the actual work site location or at our base in Ystalyfera in the Swansea valley. Work will involve a significant amount of travelling at times and will usually be within mid, south, east and west Wales, as required. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Positions are full time. You will usually be required to be on site for 8 or 8.5 hours a day. When you travel directly to the worksite in your own vehicle you will be paid a mileage allowance for travelling and not for time travelling.
Closing date for applications is the 21st of July. Apply in writing to info@tirwedd.uk with your covering letter and CV.
