Job Description

You might not see many women in engineering roles like this, but that's changing – and this could be your opportunity to step into it. When something isn't right with the gas in someone's home, you're the person who can help make it safe. You'll figure out what's happening and take action to fix the problem, and keep customers reassured throughout. It's a role that takes technical skill, but also confidence, calm thinking, good judgement, and clear communication. As a Level 3 Customer Engineering Apprentice in gas networks, you'll blend classroom learning with hands-on experience. You'll work alongside experienced engineers in customers' homes, while building your knowledge and skills at our York Training Centre. As you develop, you'll take on the work carried out by our Service Beyond the Meter team. From repairs & maintenance to installations in customers' homes. You'll also support people in more vulnerable situations, supporting those who may be older, unwell, or unsure of how to fix their boiler. It's about taking the time to listen, explaining things clearly and making sure they feel safe in their own home.
