What you will do

• Perform a range of tasks that collectively provide an effective and integrated diagnostic service.
• Ensure the quality and efficiency of slide scanning by managing the day-to-day operations of the slide scanners and conducting routine maintenance for high-quality outputs.
• Engage in all areas of the Histology Laboratory, contributing to the provision of technical services.
• Verify the correct sample type, labelling, and suitability according to Pathology laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.
• Input data accurately into the laboratory computer system and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
• Perform an increasing range of laboratory tests, including non-routine types which necessitate your experience, theoretical, and technical knowledge.
• Develop competence in new areas as the department evolves, ensuring you stay at the forefront of service developments.
• Prioritise tasks effectively during high workload periods to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Maintain meticulous records of your work responsibilities for quality assurance and compliance.
• Liaise professionally with Pathology staff and handle routine enquiries from external service users in a courteous manner.
• Participate in internal and external quality control schemes to ensure ongoing professional excellence.

Requirements

• HCPC Registration: Must hold current HCPC registration.
• Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is required to support the needs of the role.
• Technical Expertise: Experience within a laboratory environment and a strong understanding of histology processes are highly desirable.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality in all aspects of laboratory work.
