What you will do:
- Undertake and coordinate Mental Health Act assessments in line with MHA 1983 (as amended), making legally defensible decisions regarding detention.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, providing emergency assessments and crisis responses outside of normal office hours.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, police, ambulance services, and Community Mental Health Teams to manage risk and ensure safe outcomes.
- Lead the coordination of multi-disciplinary assessments, ensuring statutory compliance and timely intervention.
- Complete statutory documentation, including applications for detention, Community Treatment Orders, and Section 117 aftercare.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or a related profession.
- Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification (PGCert or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England (or relevant professional body).
- Approval by a Local Authority to practise as an AMHP (or be willing to obtain approval).
Strong Knowledge of:
- Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended).
- Care Act 2014.
- Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Human Rights Act and safeguarding frameworks.
