Are you a member of the Methodist Church in Britain who is motivated by service, integrity and good stewardship? We are seeking new members to join our Audit & Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC) , a trusted and hard‑working body that plays a vital role in supporting strong governance and accountability in the Church. The Committee reports to the Connexional Council , the trustee body of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. This is an opportunity to use your gifts in a new way, helping to safeguard the Church’s mission, resources and reputation for the benefit of current and future generations About You We are looking for people who bring personal qualities and ways of working as much as formal expertise. You are likely to: Be thoughtful, curious and discerning , with the ability to see the bigger picture as well as attend to important detail Have a strong sense of integrity and a commitment to transparency, accountability and good stewardship Be confident in offering constructive challenge , while remaining respectful, collaborative and supportive Act as a “critical friend” , combining independence of thought with loyalty to the Church and its mission Be able to listen carefully , weigh evidence, and exercise sound judgement, particularly in complex or sensitive matters Be comfortable working in a committee setting , valuing different perspectives and contributing positively to group decision‑making Share a commitment to equality, inclusion and the wellbeing of the whole Connexion Alongside these attributes, we are particularly interested in people who either: Have a lived understanding of the day‑to‑day life of the Church (for example as a minister or lay person at church, circuit or district level); Bring insight into IT, digital, cyber security or AI‑related matters , helping the Committee to navigate emerging risks and opportunities in a fast‑changing environment, and/or Have a background in risk, finance or audit. You do not need to be an expert in all areas. What matters most is your mindset, values and willingness to engage thoughtfully with complex governance issues.
