What you will do:

• Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of individuals with substance misuse issues, focusing on physical health, mental health, and risk factors.

• Deliver essential nursing interventions, such as detoxification support, opioid substitution treatment monitoring, and planning for relapse prevention.

• Administer and monitor medication following clinical protocols, NICE guidance, and controlled drug regulations to ensure patient safety and care quality.

• Lead harm reduction initiatives like blood-borne virus screening, vaccination programmes, distributing naloxone, and educating on overdose prevention.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications:

  • Possess a Registered Nurse qualification in Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disabilities.

  • Demonstrate continued professional development related to substance misuse or community healthcare.

• Registration and Compliance:

  • Hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

  • Have a solid understanding of NICE guidance, Orange Guidelines, safeguarding procedures, and clinical governance frameworks.

  • Familiarity with controlled drugs legislation, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the principles of harm reduction.
