Assistant Ranger

Groundwork West Midlands is seeking a motivated Assistant Ranger to support the management and enhancement of our green spaces and nature reserves. This is a practical, outdoor role with a strong ecological focus. You'll support habitat management and biodiversity improvements while helping deliver projects that connect communities to their local environment. Working closely with the Lead Ranger, you'll contribute to the conservation and long-term sustainability of our sites. Key Responsibilities Assist with habitat management and ecological improvements, including woodland, grassland, and wetland areas Carry out practical site maintenance such as vegetation clearance, path work, and infrastructure repairs Undertake regular site inspections and ensure high standards of safety and presentation Support delivery of environmental projects, education sessions, and community engagement activities Work with volunteers, schools, and community groups to encourage involvement in conservation Build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders Promote activities through social media and local networks Follow health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and safe use of equipment
