We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Norwich, supporting pupils with complex needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and a multidisciplinary team to support pupils with a wide range of complex learning, physical, and communication needs. The role will involve providing both academic support and personal care, ensuring every pupil can access learning in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Support pupils with PMLD/SLD in a small, specialist class setting Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required Help deliver tailored learning activities in line with EHCPs Support communication using alternative methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, sensory approaches – training can be provided) Promote a calm, structured, and positive learning environment Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff The Ideal Candidate Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (PMLD/SLD experience desirable but not essential) A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach Comfortable supporting with personal care Strong teamwork and communication skills A genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs What’s on Offer Part-time opportunity (3 consistent working days per week) Supportive and experienced team environment Ongoing training and development opportunities A rewarding role where no two days are the same This role would suit someone with a caring nature, looking to build or continue a career within SEND education, particularly within complex needs provision.
