Academic Skills Tutor and Coordinator Department: Department of Education About the Role The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Academic Skills Tutor and Coordinator to support the development of academic literacy and critical thinking among postgraduate students. Working within the Preparatory Programmes and Academic Skills (PPAS) team and reporting to the Academic Support Programmes Manager, the postholder will design, deliver, and coordinate academic skills provision across the Institute’s programmes. This includes teaching, one-to-one tutoring, curriculum development, and leading pre-sessional and in-sessional provision to support students—primarily international—studying on postgraduate programmes. The role also involves collaboration with faculty and professional services colleagues, maintaining digital learning resources, and contributing to preparatory programmes delivered both in London and internationally. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing student success within a diverse and global academic environment. What We’re Looking: For A Master’s degree in a relevant field. CELTA/TESOL (or equivalent) teaching qualification. Experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in UK higher education. Strong curriculum design and digital skills Experience supporting international students, particularly those with English as an additional language.
