Clinical Facilitator- Accessibility - UOD2202

We are recruiting for a Clinical Facilitator within our Medical School Office in the School of Medicine to support our suite of undergraduate programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team providing advice and administration for a range of services for students, academics, NHS clinicians and professional services staff, related to placement delivery. You will report to the Learning and Teaching Support Senior Manager in the first instance and will support the department by undertaking assessments of clinical areas within NHS Tayside, mapping out potential accessibility issues, that may affect students with a wide variety of disabilities. This mapping will form part of a database which the post holder will develop, in addition to a report of each area. This will involve considering various issues such as, the need to negotiate stairs, accommodation, public transport, closeness of disabled parking, disabled toilet access, fire evacuation plans, potential infection, prevention, and control issues. Based in Ninewells Hospital, one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, the School of Medicine provides outstanding medical education and training supported by world class research facilities. Your priorities will include: Liaising with academic leads, MBChB administrative staff, clinicians (nursing, medical and others) and other relevant groups to help with the identification of access requirements to ensure appropriate learning opportunities for students in teaching, clinical and social care areas. Producing reports on accessibility across the Ninewells Campus and NHS Tayside for clinical and social care placements. Working closely with the academic team and professional services, leading on student adjustments and the cascading of this information to relevant parties. Chairing the Disability Adjustments Working Group, ensuring that all new adjustments have approval, with outcome letters sent to students. Developing close contact with clinical areas to optimise learning opportunities for students. Meeting with students and supporting them with choosing and accessing placements. Developing a database of findings in each clinical area and ensuring this information is updated regularly. Who we’re looking for: Experienced healthcare professional with demonstratable experience at afc grade 5 or above. Registration with relevant professional regulatory body. Understanding of accessibility issues and requirements of clinical learning. Excellent administration skills with the ability to write reports. A team player with a proactive approach. This is a possible secondment opportunity for NHS employees and the potential candidates may wish to seek approval from their NHS Line Manager before applying.
