About the role The post holder will be responsible for the provision of professional services support for the Centre for Applied Statistics Course (CASC) team and implementation of the continuing professional development (CPD) programme, which includes a range of and short courses, international conferences and Institute events. Short courses and events vary in length from one to five days and have from 20 to over 200 delegates, either delivered in person or hybrid. The postholder will also work closely with professional services colleagues within the Institute’s departments delivering department symposia and support the Executive Assistant in the Director’s office with communications and event organisation. Duties and responsibilities: To coordinate and deliver a schedule of internal and external short courses for CASC and other teaching areas as the short courses portfolio develops across the institute, delivering events online and/or in-person formats, via lectures, sem inars, conferences and panel discussions, working closely with the CASC director and Institute Co-directors. To lead on the operational delivery of short courses and events, acting as the first point of contact and providing end to end support including compiling delegate lists, managing communications and event promotion, and registrations across a variety of target audience segments, booking rooms, organising catering and briefing staff as necessary, as well as commissioning and/or ordering event-specific branded collateral such as invitations, posters, stationery and signage and conducting risk assessments. To ensure events are promoted effectively and appropriately, in line with target audiences, across digital channels, including social media, website, Onlinestore, Eventbrite and any other relevant means, in collaboration with faculty and departmental communication colleagues. To prioritise and plan time and resources, with line manager input as neces sary. This will cover all stages of delivering an educational event, including marketing and promotion through to post-event evaluation, including capturing data on attendance. This post is for 12 months as a secondment cover until 31/05/2027 in the first instance or when the postholder returns, whichever is the sooner. About you The successful candidate will meet the following criteria: Experience of coordinating events, programmes of study and meetings (or equivalent). Experience working in a busy customer-focused environment. Experience of using technology to deliver events remotely (i.e. Zoom, MS Teams). Experience of using cloud-based communications platforms such as Eventbrite to successfully promote events, and the ability to use website content management systems. A high standard of organisational skills, including attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to monitor and review budgetary expenditure to identify areas of shortfall and overspend and suggest appropriate means of addressing them.
