Learning Mentor £25,592 per annum (Scale 4) 32.5 Hours per Week Term Time Only (39 Weeks) Required from September 2026 Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve success in school? We are seeking a calm, resilient and positive Learning Mentor to provide pastoral and mentoring support for students across Key Stages 3–5. The role involves building strong relationships with students, supporting behaviour and emotional regulation, helping students engage positively with school life and contributing to a safe and supportive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with young people in a school, youth work or support setting who enjoys working as part of a team and making a real difference to students’ wellbeing and progress. Experience of working with students with SEND would be advantageous, although training and support will be provided. “ Staff are proud to work at the school. They say that leaders consider their well-being and that they have the support and training they need to do their job. ” (Ofsted 2024) We provide all of our staff with a comprehensive training programme, including trauma-informed crisis prevention training (CPI). We understand the demands of working in a special school and provide all staff with 30 minutes Administration & Development time each day. Staff also benefit from a supportive team environment and access to our Employee Assistance Programme. Garratt Park School is a special school for children and young people aged 11-19 who have moderate learning difficulties, along with other special needs disabilities including Autism, SCLN, sensory impairments and a small number with more complex needs. We are situated in the inner London borough of Wandsworth and most of our students come from the local area, from diverse backgrounds with around one third entitled to free school meals.
