Job Description

St Paul’s Girls’ School is an extraordinary institution. While we consistently achieve some of the best GCSE and A level results in the country, we believe education is about far more than exams. With fewer rules and no uniform, we actively nurture creativity, curiosity and a love of discovery. Our rich co-curricular programme builds confidence, encourages independence and strengthens our connection with the wider community. It’s a distinctive environment – ambitious, thoughtful and forward looking – but most importantly, it is a place where people matter. We are now seeking to appoint a qualified Archivist to lead the care, development and promotion of the School’s historic archive. This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for a rich and important collection at a time of investment and change, including relocation to a newly fitted archive space in the Rosalind Franklin Wing. In this role, you will work closely with the Librarian and colleagues across the School, supporting teaching, learning, alumnae engagement and the long-term preservation of the School’s history. The role is suited to an archivist with strong professional standards, good organisational skills and a collaborative approach. There is scope to shape the future direction of the archive and to enhance access and engagement both within the school community and beyond. The role may involve occasional work at height; appropriate training will be provided and must be undertaken. Hours: Part-time (4 days per week), term-time + 3 weeks (39 weeks per year). There is scope to agree the working pattern for this role, although the expectation is 24 hours per week. In return, you can expect a comprehensive package of rewards, including a pension scheme, private medical insurance after five years’ service, life assurance, season ticket loan, free access to our extensive leisure facilities, free lunches, free eye tests, an advice and counselling service and a generous reduction on fees for your family. For further information and to apply, please click here . Closing date: Sunday, 31 May 2026. Interview date: w/c 1 June 2026. St Paul’s Girls’ School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and other appropriate pre‑employment checks.
