HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Summer Placement - Procurement

Location: Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support in the issuing, collation and analysis of Jaggaer Supplier Performance Management Scorecards.
• Exposure to Modern Slavery Audits carried out on our Supply Chain. Regular Site engagement activities with the wider procurement team and the opportunity to view BBV Assets via site tours.
• Processing requisitions, sourcing and placing purchase orders for direct and indirect materials to support the Area North project.
• Support the preparation of Invitation to Tenders, including inputting into procurement strategy documents.
• Manage the issue of ITTs through the online Jaggaer eTendering platform.
• Managing the websites where project supply chain opportunities are advertised.
• Receiving and collating responses to advertised opportunities and managing new supplier enquiries.
• Deal with communications (mostly over the telephone and face to face) with other stakeholders in the business.
• Use a variety of Microsoft Packages (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to compose and update documents.
  

Essential Experience:

• Having a friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to learn will be essential for this role.
• You will have a basic knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word and Excel. Teams will also be used regularly, but can be trained on use.
• Enthusiastic and motivated individuals currently studying a Business related degree in their 1st or 2nd Year of their study programme and available for 8 weeks from 20 July 2026.
• Prioritisation will be given to candidates studying at a Midlands-based University or who are permanent residents within the area.
