Job Description

Based in Bovey Tracey, Devon

About Us

Dartmoor National Park Authority works in partnership with local and national stakeholders to conserve and enhance Dartmoor as a vibrant, living, working landscape and community teeming with natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.

This is a part-time (22hrs/wk) position (0.6FTE), for a fixed term until 31 March 2029, subject to funding. The role is based at the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) offices at Parke.

The Role

As Dartmoor FiPL Programme Officer, you will play a key role in delivering the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme across Dartmoor for 2026–29. Acting as a first point of contact for farmers, land managers and applicants, you will provide guidance and practical support to help develop high-quality funding applications that deliver meaningful outcomes for people, nature, climate and place. This includes ensuring projects support the delivery of priorities identified in the National Park Partnership Plan.

You’ll work closely with the Programme Manager, FiPL Advisers and the Local Assessment Panel to promote the scheme, manage enquiries, and support the development, assessment and monitoring of projects.

The Benefits

- Salary of £29,540-£33,699 pro rata per annum
- Generous annual leave and flexitime policies
- Access to electric vehicle pool car fleet
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Discounts at National Park Visitor Centres

About you

You will bring a strong understanding of farming, land management and conservation, alongside experience or familiarity with grant funding programmes. You must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be able to build positive relationships with land managers and communicate clearly and sensitively across different audiences.

Highly organised and proactive, you can manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and contribute to financial and programme reporting requirements. You’ll be equally confident working independently or as part of a small, collaborative team, with strong written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to delivering practical environmental outcomes. A relevant qualification or equivalent experience is essential, and a willingness to travel across Dartmoor and occasionally work flexibly will be important for success in this role.

For further information, please contact James Wright, FiPL Manager.
