An Overview of what you will be doing The Marketing & Communications team at the Rothschild Foundation promotes Waddesdon Manor, its seasonal programmes, and its commercial activities across a wide range of digital and traditional channels. From strategic campaigns to day-to-day content, the team works to attract new audiences and engage returning visitors by showcasing Waddesdon Manor’s exhibitions, collections, grounds, and retail and hospitality offer. This internship offers a practical introduction to marketing within a cultural and heritage setting. You’ll contribute to live campaigns, attend events, and work alongside an experienced team, gaining insight into how content, communications, and brand come together. As an intern, you’ll support social media content and scheduling, website updates, and media activity such as drafting press materials. You’ll also contribute to maintaining Waddesdon’s brand across digital and print, developing skills in copywriting, proofreading, and content creation. By the end of the internship, you’ll understand how a busy marketing team operates and gain experience across both campaign delivery and day-to-day communications, building a strong foundation for a future career in the sector. This role suits someone who is comfortable taking initiative, working independently when needed, and collaborating with others to bring ideas to life. You’ll need strong communication skills, both written and visual, to help share Waddesdon Manor’s stories, events, and heritage in an engaging way. An interest in art, heritage, sustainability, or events will help you connect with the content you’re promoting. You should be adaptable and organised, able to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. A positive, practical approach to problem-solving is important, particularly when things don’t go to plan. We’re also looking for someone who is open and approachable, able to work with a wide range of people including visitors, staff, and volunteers, and contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment. Some familiarity with social media and confidence using tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook will be helpful, but you don’t need extensive experience—what matters most is your willingness to learn and get involved. Skills you will gain Content Creation – Learn how to craft engaging content across multiple platforms, including social media, the website, and print materials, helping bring Waddesdon’s stories, events, and heritage to life Email Marketing – Receive training in HubSpot and develop the skills to set up, manage, and evaluate email campaigns that reach and engage audiences Website Editing – Gain hands-on experience using WordPress to update and maintain website content, ensuring information is current, accessible, and compelling Design – Use tools such as Canva to create visually appealing social media posts, on-site collateral, and promotional materials that showcase Waddesdon Manor’s rich heritage and events Public Speaking & Presentation Skills – Build confidence presenting to groups, leading briefings, and communicating key information to both teams and visitors in a clear and engaging way Copywriting and Proofreading – Develop your ability to write clear, persuasive copy and ensure all communications maintain Waddesdon Manor’s high-quality standards This internship offers a unique opportunity to combine creativity, communication, and practical marketing skills in a historic, inspiring environment, giving you a strong foundation for a future career in the cultural or heritage sector.
