Job overview The Consultant post is comprised of 9 programmed activities (PAs), of which 5.5 provide direct clinical care (DCC) and 3 are for supporting professional activities (SPAs) and clinic related admin.0.5 PAs are dedicated to attendance and contribution to the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) MDT meeting. It is expected that the post-holder will attend on a fortnightly basis. The post is comprised of paediatric and strabismus sessions at Moorfields Eye Hospital (MEH) City Road, that are inclusive of a surgical list, paediatric A&E and outpatient clinics, and two sessions weekly at the Homerton Hospital. These include the delivery of ROP screening and treatment. MEH holds a service level agreement with the Homerton Hospital to deliver ROP treatment over a minimum of 50 weeks of the year. Other requirements of the post-holder include commitment to attending the weekly paediatric service teaching (as permitted), and monthly strabismus service teaching, as well as participation in the joint MEH/GOSH paediatric consultant on-call rota. Applicants are required to hold FRCOphth, or equivalent, and be registered with the General Medical Council. Fellowship training in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology are essential and formal teaching experience would be advantageous. Main duties of the
