ASSISTANT TRAIL MAINTENANCE RANGER on HADRIAN'S WALL PATH NATIONAL TRAIL
Join our team and help preserve one of the UK’s most iconic and historic national trails! The Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stretches 84 miles through some of the most scenic landscapes in the UK. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Trail Maintenance Ranger to assist in the upkeep and conservation of the trail, ensuring it remains safe, accessible, and beautiful for visitors from around the world.
Fixed term contract to 31.12.26
Full time hours. Must be available to start work by early June 2026.
£25989 - £27254 per annum
Based at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre, Bardon Mill, Northumberland

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate person to join our team. You’ll work alongside the trail maintenance ranger on a broad range of tasks across the national trail, from coast to coast, and gain lots of skills and experience along the way. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of this extraordinary cultural and natural landscape.
You will play a vital role in the upkeep and improvement of the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail, ensuring its accessibility, safety, and enjoyment for all visitors.
You will require:
- Qualification (or working towards) in countryside management
- Experience in practical maintenance or habitat management tasks
- Physically fit for the stated tasks and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
- Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with the public
- Ability to travel to sites in order to fulfil the requirements of the role
