We are seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Officer to lead and develop our corporate GIS capability. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the conservation, management, and sustainable development of one of the UK’s most beautiful protected landscapes.
You’ll help turn spatial data into meaningful insight—supporting evidence-based decision-making that directly impacts the National Park and its communities.
About the Role
As our GIS Officer, you will:
- Lead the development and management of our corporate GIS platform
- Deliver high-quality spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualisation
- Design and improve GIS workflows across desktop, web, and mobile platforms
- Develop web maps, apps, and dashboards to enhance access to data
- Ensure spatial data is secure, accurate, and compliant with governance standards
- Provide expert advice, training, and support to staff across the organisation
- Collaborate with partners including local authorities, government bodies, and academic institutions
- Represent the Authority in geospatial forums and manage relationships with Ordnance Survey
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- A degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Data Science (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of GIS principles, spatial data management, and databases
- Advanced skills in GIS software and spatial analysis
- Experience managing or supporting a corporate GIS system
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience with enterprise or cloud-based GIS
- Understanding of protected landscapes or National Park purposes
- Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives

Additional Information
