Supporting the consultants in providing a histopathology service. The role will include dissection of specimens, reporting and specified authorisation of cases. Specific duties expected of the post-holder will depend on prior experience and agreed on appointment. You will be joining an enthusiastic team with strong links to the many specialist services hosted by the trust. This ensures excellent exposure to a wide and interesting case mix, with great opportunities for those looking to develop specialist interests. Main duties of the job Cellular Pathology services have been integrated across East Kent for several years. Laboratory services are based at the WHH, Ashford. We provide histopathology, non-gynaecological cytology and autopsy services to East Kent Hospitals and General Practitioners. Cellular pathology has adopted subspecialist reporting. Most of the consultants have 2 - 4 subspecialist areas. Each subspecialist team has their lead and deputy lead. Multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) participation is based on a rolling rota. Cellular pathology is known for its strong team spirit and open friendly culture. There is great emphasis on cross communication between the technical and diagnostic teams. Cellular pathology also provides a mortuary service on two main sites (Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate (QEQM) and WHH). This post attracts 10 PAs.
